Login help

Alumni use their University of Waterloo Identity and Access Management (WatIAM) credentials to login. If you joined the E-Community before February 2016, your prior E-Community username and password will not work – you must log in with your WatIAM username and password.

To activate your WatIAM account:

If you convocated in 2000 or earlier, you would not have had a WatIAM account as a student, so you need to set up your account. You only need to set up (activate) your account once.

Activate your WatIAM accountEnter the information requested and follow the steps to obtain your WatIAM username and password. For those who have changed their last names since convocation, you will need to enter your former last name (the one you had as a student) in the "Last Name" field. Once you have activated your account, you will be able to log into the E-Community 24 hours later

If you have forgotten your student number, you can request a reminder.

… Having trouble? Email the IST Service Desk, describing the problem in detail, and include your student number.

Have a WatIAM account but can’t remember your WatIAM username and password? Here’s what to do:

  • To retrieve your WatIAM username: On the WatIAM home page, scroll down to the "Forgotten username" section.
  • To retrieve your WatIAM password: there is no password reminder option – you must reset a new password. On the WatIAM home page, scroll down to the “Forgotten password” section. (Note: if you reach out to the IST Service Desk and they reset your password for you, you must then log into WatIAM and change your password before your credentials will allow access to other UWaterloo services such as the E-Community or WaterlooWorks.)
